"The future of work consists of learning a living" writes Marshall McLuhan. With the rapid advancement in technology, the future of education holds exciting prospects shaped by technology and evolving educational paradigms. Artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and personalized learning platforms are poised to revolutionize how individuals acquire knowledge. With a focus on values, interdisciplinary skills and adaptability, the education of the future aims to prepare students for dynamic, fast-paced environments where responsible critical and inventive thinking will take centre stage. Lifelong learning is becoming integral, fostering a culture where individuals continuously upskill and reskill. Collaboration between humans and advanced technologies will redefine traditional classrooms, offering immersive and engaging educational experiences. As we embrace the future of education, the emphasis on responsible critical and inventive thinking, creativity and digital literacy will be paramount, empowering learners to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
GELC 2024 will explore how schools and educational institutions can embrace this future by preparing our young people to thrive in a technology enriched global environment. Participants will hear from thought leaders on how we can leverage collaboration to foster a culture of learning among staff and students to develop necessary skills and dispositions.
An interactive pre-conference workshop will be held on 27 June 2024, specifically tailored for educational leaders. The workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive exploration of Ai tools for education, with practical applications for leadership roles. Participants will also be engaged in an analysis and reflection process regarding how to best implement AI in schools, including ethical and social impact of projected developments, and we will utilize these same tools to synthetize conclusions and recommendations in real time.
